Manage BOMs > Aligning the EBOM to the MBOM
Access BOM alignment data
You can align a source BOM, such as an engineering bill of materials (EBOM), to a target BOM, such as a manufacturing BOM (MBOM), before you begin process planning or authoring work instructions.
Note
Unless you have special permissions, you cannot modify the source BOM. During alignment tasks, you must make all of your changes in the target BOM.
Prerequisites
Set or adjust the values of the following preferences as necessary.
| Preference Name | Preference Value |
|---|---|
| MEAssignPropertiesInContext | bl_plmxml_abs_xform |
| MEAssignAttachmentContext | DirectParent |
| MEAssignAttachmentAndRelationToUseInCopyRule | DirectModel:IMAN_Rendering:Reference |
| MEAlignedPropertiesList | Include the value bl_plmxml_abs_xform. |
| MEAlignedPropertiesListToExcludeFromDetection | Do not include the value 03bl_plmxml_abs_xform. |
| MEAlignedPropertiesListToExcludeFromInitialization | Do not include the value bl_plmxml_abs_xform. |
| MEAlignedPropertiesListToExcludeFromSync | Do not include the value bl_plmxml_abs_xform. |
Procedure
Search for a work package, and select it in the results list.
Click BOM Alignment.
Select Work without tracking changes, and click Continue.
Tip To use change management during EBOM-MBOM alignment, select Track with change notice, then select a change notice and click Continue.
In the MBOM panel, create a top node of any item or type by adding manufacturing-specific parts or containers to the MBOM.
Note For both the top node and each container you add, if the element is qualified as PART, you must set the property is design required to
FALSE.Perform BOM alignment tasks.
