Add multiple matching components to a tool assembly
Use the Matching Components tab to add matching resource assembly components to a tool assembly.
Procedure
- Open an existing resource assembly or create a new one.
Note The resource assembly must have at least one component.
- Select a (1) resource assembly component and click the (2) Matching Components tab.
Example
In the example, the cutter component S-90_L-13.0_AN-0Deg is selected in the (4) Downwards (Workspace Side) panel.
Note If the selected resource assembly has multiple matching components, such as a milling or cutting assembly with multiple cutter components, you must enter or confirm the number of matching cutter components to add.
- Select the matching component in the (3) Upwards (Machine Side) panel or (4) Downwards (Workpiece Side) panel, and click (5) Add .
Note If the resource assembly has a single Downwards (Workpiece Side) coordinate system available, the resource assembly adds the selected tool component to the next available position below the assembly structure.
The Add dialog box displayed depends on the matching component, such as a component in the (3) Upwards (Machine Side) panel or a component in the (4) Downwards (Workpiece Side) panel.
- Click (5) Add.
The Add dialog box appears.
- (Optional) To add matching tool cutter components to an assembly with single coordinate systems, in the Add dialog box, enter the number of tool cutter components in Number of Components.
Note All of the tool cutter components being added to the resource must be identical.
(1) Total Number of Components—The maximum number of matching cutter components for the resource assembly.
(2) Number of Components—The number of matching cutter components currently assigned to the resource assembly. Example When the maximum number of cutter components for the resource assembly is four, and you add only one cutter component, the number of available cutter components is automatically adjusted to three.
- (Optional) To add one or more mismatched tool components to a resource assembly with multiple coordinate systems, in the Add dialog box, select the desired boxes in Name of CSYS, to add or remove resource assembly cutter components.
Note When the selected resource assembly has multiple Downwards (Workpiece Side) coordinate systems available, this dialog box allows you to add selected tool components to the assigned position in the assembly structure.
(1) Workpiece Side Connections—The maximum number of cutter components for the resource assembly.
(2) Component—The ID, revision, and name of the selected cutter component.
(3) Count—The number of cutter components currently assigned to the resource assembly. Example When the maximum number of cutter components for the resource assembly is eight, and you add six cutter components, the number of available cutter components is automatically adjusted to two.
(4) Name of CSYS (Coordinate Systems)—The number of coordinate system positions available to select for the resource assembly. Click the selection boxes to add a cutter component to the resource assembly.
(5) Occupied—Displays if the cutter component for the resource assembly is occupied or available.
(6) ID—The unique ID assigned to the cutter component in Manufacturing Resource Library (MRL).
(7) Revision—The revision assigned to the cutter component in MRL.
(8) Name—The name assigned to the cutter component in MRL.
- Click Add.
The new components are integrated into the assembly. Note When the coordinate systems are defined, the components are positioned accordingly in the 3D model.
