Define precedence constraints

You can define precedence constraints to ensure that one operation is performed before another, without requiring them to be sequential. This method enhances the workflow integrity and operational efficiency.

Prerequisites

You must set the

EP_PrecedenceConstraintsMode

preference to the

Prevention

or

Warning

value to use this feature:

• Prevention—You can define precedence constraints, and Easy Plan prevents any actions that violate those constraints.

• Warning—You can define precedence constraints, and Easy Plan displays a warning message if any actions violate those constraints, but does not prevent those actions. After you perform the actions, you must resolve any problems that violate the precedence constraints within the data.

In addition, you must add

EP_PrecedenceConstraintsMode

to the

AWC_StartupPreferences

in the Teamcenter rich client. See

Procedure

1. If you have not already done so, search for and open a work package, and then navigate to the Product BOP Authoring page.

2. In the Product BOP panel, select the two processes or operations you want to constrain, in order, and then click → Add Constraint.
   
   Note
   The feature works only when two lines are selected. You cannot select multiple lines. The order in which you select the lines is important. The first line you select is the preceding line in the constraint, and the second line is its successor. Make sure you select the lines in the correct sequence to create the intended precedence relationship between them.
   
   
   Easy Plan displays a message indicating that a precedence constraint was created for the selected operations.

3. (Optional) To remove the precedence constraints, select the lines in any order and then click Remove Constraints.
