View objects with the universal viewer
You can use the universal viewer in Electronic Work Instructions (EWI) to display various file types on Linux or Windows platforms without having to switch between several different viewers. In addition, the universal viewer displays MS Office documents without first converting those files to PDF format.
Prerequisites
If your Teamcenter administrator has not already done so, you must set
the AWC_defaultViewerConfig.VIEWERCONFIG value
for any datasets you want to view in your environment. The format for the preference

For example, these are the preference values for MS Office:

Caution
To ensure that thumbnail images align properly in the universal viewer, please change the preference value from SnapShotViewData.Awp0ImageViewer=Image to SnapShotViewData.Awp0ImageViewer=Image,ThumbnailImage.
In addition, you must add AWC_defaultViewerConfig.VIEWERCONFIG to the AWC_StartupPreferences in the Teamcenter rich client.

Procedure
With EWI open, load data for an electronic work instruction.
In the Viewer, References, or Documents tab, select an object that you want to view. For example, in the References tab, select an Excel file. The universal viewer loads the file that you selected. Note You cannot edit the file.
(Optional) Use the features available for the file you are viewing. For example, you may be able to Print, add Comments, or Find data within the file.
