Managing the enterprise BOP > Balancing a production line

Using the Line Balancing Constraints view

The Line Balancing Constraints view helps you define the mandatory sequence of operations.

In this view, arrows between the individual operations indicate the required sequence in which they are to be performed. From this view, you can open the Constraints Consistency view to check whether there are any overall constraint violations in the product BOP.

Each process or operation is represented by a box containing the name, ID, and the process or operation symbol. At each side, there is a plus or minus sign representing hidden predecessors or successors, if there are any.

The scope of the view is colored in orange. When you open the view with a certain scope operation or process, the number of predecessors or successors that are opened with the scope is controlled by the following preferences:

  • MEConstraintViewPreloadedPredecessorLevels

  • MEConstraintViewPreloadedSuccessorLevels

Note

If the PSM_Enable_Product_Configurator preference is set to true OR the configurator context is attached to the ProductBOP structure, the ProductBOP→Open With→Line Balancing Constraints option is not available in the rich client.
