Manage substitute occurrences in EBOM and MBOM

You can show or hide substitute components in EBOM and MBOM. You can add or change the primary substitute component in MBOM as needed.

Procedure

1. Search for and open a work package and navigate to the BOM Alignment page.

2. In the Engineering BOM panel, check the substitute occurrence for components.

3. Consume the substitute primary occurrence from the EBOM to the MBOM. The system carries forward the substitute components to the MBOM, ensuring continuity and consistency in representing substitute occurrences across both BOM structures, and is reflected in the MBOM.

4. Show or hide the substitute occurrences in MBOM pane as needed.

5. (Optional) To show or hide substitutes in EBOM:

                    At the parent-level component, right-click the component, then select
                            Show Substitute Components or Hide
                            Substitute component depending on the selection.
                
                
                    At tree-level, click the latest working chip, then in the
                            Configuration panel, select or unselect the
                        option Show Substitute Components.
   

6. To change the primary substitute, in the MBOM pane, right-click the component, then click Set Primary. The substitutes column, symbols, and all related properties are updated accordingly.
