Cloning enterprise BOP structures overview

You can create a structure from another structure or template. This procedure is called cloning and typically creates an identical copy of the original structure or template. In the enterprise BOP, you can use cloning to create the following structures:

When creating a new product BOP, use a generic BOP as a template. Teamcenter creates origin links for the new product BOP and all partitions, processes and operations in it.
When creating a product BOP, use another product BOP as a template. Teamcenter creates origin links for the new product BOP and for all cloned partitions, processes, and operations inside it. These links refer to the original generic BOP, not the source product BOP.
Use the Paste Duplicate command from a generic BOP to a product BOP. Teamcenter does not create origin links for all cloned partitions, processes, and operations in the structure.
Use the Paste Duplicate command from a product BOP into another product BOP, if both product BOPs have the same origin generic BOP. Teamcenter creates origin links for all cloned partitions, processes, and operations in the structure to the original generic BOP.
When creating a new plant BOP, use another plant BOP as a template. Teamcenter creates origin links for all the cloned processes and operations to the original product BOP from which the processes and operations were allocated.
Allocate processes or operations from a product BOP to a plant BOP. Teamcenter creates origin links to ascertain whether changes are made to the original processes or operations.

You can clone other objects in generic BOPs and product BOPs, but no origin links are created. For example, you can use the Paste Duplicate command to create clones of structures in the clipboard, but these clones will not contain origin links back to the original structure.

Any logical designator or logical assignment in the process or operation template is included in the clone.

If you create a product BOP by cloning another product BOP, all partitions in the template and their contents are cloned. You cannot clone a single partition or the substructure of a partition.

Origin relations indicate the generic BOP process or operation that is the basis of each corresponding process or operation in the product BOP. If you clone a product BOP, the origin links always point to the original generic BOP, not the product BOP you copied. Origin links are not generated for assigned product.

Product BOP master forms are created independently of the template master and master revision. The types of the master form are determined by the product BOP type.

Note

If you use the Paste Duplicate command to copy processes or operations, you cannot use the Find command to find the cloned process or operation in another view because the Paste Duplicate command creates a new process or operation without any connection to the original structure from which it was cloned. Origins are important to understanding linkages between cloning and copying.
