Auto-assign a BOM recipe

To auto-assign a recipe, assign recipe criteria from a source BOM, such as an engineering bill of materials (EBOM), to a target BOM, such as a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM).

A recipe consists of search criteria saved on each node of an MBOM template that defines the parts to be assigned from an EBOM to an equivalent node in an MBOM.

Note

To resolve recipes using the Focus command, set the value of the preference MBMEnableBOMFiltering to true.

Procedure

1. Search for and open a work package and navigate to the BOM Alignment page.

2. Enable Show Assignment State.

3. In the source (EBOM) panel, select the assembly that contains the parts you want to resolve to the MBOM from your recipe.

4. In the target (MBOM) panel, select the part or assembly that contains the recipe.

5. In the Information panel, select the BOM Recipes tab. The tab displays available recipes for the selected MBOM assembly. In the following example, those assemblies that display a Missing in Source icon in the MBOM contain recipes, and are not yet resolved from the EBOM to the MBOM.

6. Select a recipe and in the BOM Recipes toolbar, click Auto-Assign .

7. At the prompt, click Update Now to update MBOM assignment indications, or click Switch Off Indications to disable indications.
   Once the recipe is resolved, the relevant parts are assigned from the EBOM to the MBOM. If you selected Update Now, assignment indications are updated and the relevant parts are assigned from the EBOM to the MBOM. If you selected Switch Off Indications, then Show Assignment State is disabled but the assignments are successfully resolved.
