Overview of migrating a classic BOP to a plant BOP

What is a classic BOP?

With the introduction of the plant BOP data model, to distinguish it from what was in Manufacturing Process Management in the beginning, the term classic BOP will be used.

The classic BOP model will continue to be supported, so you can continue to use it if its capabilities satisfy your needs.

What is a plant BOP?

A plant BOP is a data model with logic that corresponds to the organization of the plant structure (BOE - Bill of Equipment).

  • A Process area is an area in the plant used as a process to group smaller processes like lines, zones, or stations.

  • A Process area and all of its descendants (for example, area, line, and zone) in an OOTB model are the same in terms of attributes and behavior.

  • A Process station has a unique logic in that it is the only level that:

Should contain operations and/or process resources and other objects like a BOE station.

Should be used for balancing.

You accumulate the IPA on.

You connect to the plant structure (BOE).

Cannot contain another type of process below.

Note

The PS_assume_legacy_transform_units preference determines how Teamcenter interprets the units of measure for legacy transform data. Teamcenter and NX currently use meters for transform units of measure; legacy measurements were in inches or millimeters. This preference affects all data using legacy transforms that have no database-resident indication of the unit measurement stored with them. The default setting is Unknown. If the preference is left in the default setting, you may see discrepancies between the model and display units when you view collaboration context structures in Manufacturing Process Planner.
