Set a change notice

You can set a manufacturing change notice (MCN) or engineering change notice (ECN or CN) on a bill of process (BOP) or manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) structure to capture newly created revisions, including allocations from product BOPs, tool assignments, and revisions in operations. The change notice to be set should be valid for the applied configuration of the structure.

Example

If a revision rule is set to 10-Jan-2015 through 30-Jan-2015 and the change notice has an effectivity of 20-Feb-2015 through 30-Feb-2015, the change notice cannot be set to the applied configuration of the tree.

You may have to set a change notice before you can edit certain structures. If you attempt to edit a structure for which change notices are mandatory, or open a collaboration context containing such a structure, you receive a warning. Your administrator configures the types of structures for which the warning is displayed using the role-based MEMCN_change_notice_mandatory_types preference.

Procedure

1. In Manufacturing Process Planner, select the structure to which you want to set a change notice.

2. Select the top line of the structure and choose Tools→Change Management→Set Change Notice.

3. In the Set Change Notice dialog box, in the ID box, type text to help you find your change notice, and in the list below, double-click the change notice.

The header section lists the change notice and its release status.

4. If you revised the top line of a structure, a new BOP or MBOM is created, the original shows the old revision, and no change notice is set in the new structure. To resolve this problem, do the following.

In the new structure, turn on the change notice and add the top line to it using the Add to Change Notice command.

In My Teamcenter, copy the old revision and paste it to the change notice's Impacted Items folder.
