Use MCN Compare to focus on product BOP changes

Use MCN comparison criteria to identify changes to a source product BOP that are tracked by an applied manufacturing change notice (MCN), and compared to a target plant BOP.

No accountability check is executed in MCN Compare mode, so allocation and mismatch indications common to other comparison modes are not visible. Scoped comparison will also not be applicable as the relevant changes from the tracking change notice are displayed in the Change Summary panel irrespective of any scope you select.

Prerequisites

Your work package must contain a product BOP and a plant BOP.

Product BOP changes must be tracked using a change notice when the Process Planning or Line Balancing pages are opened.

Set the following preferences:

Procedure

1. On a Manage Work Package page that contains both a product BOP and a plant BOP, click the High Level Planning task button.

2. In the Track Your Work dialog box, accept the default change notice selection or select a different MCN, and click Continue.

3. On the High Level Planning task page, in the BOP panel, select a relevant object and navigate to the Process Planning task page.

4. If it is not already selected, from the Compare list, select MCN Compare.

5. Enable the Show Allocation Indication assignment comparison control. The page displays only changes made in the product BOP and tracked in the applied tracking MCN, regardless of any scope selections in the product BOP and plant BOP. When comparing the source product BOP to the target plant BOP, the Change Summary panel typically displays changes related to product BOP properties, assignments, and attachments. The same changes can be verified in the Change Summary section of the associated MCN.

   No allocation or mismatch indications are displayed in the Product BOP and Process (plant BOP) panels.

6. Navigate the list of impacted operations in the Change Summary panel, and for each approved group of changes, click Propagate All.
   As changes are propagated, they are visible in the plant BOP.​

7. (Optional) To change to a different comparison mode, disable the Show Allocation Indication control, and from the Compare list, select the Easy Plan Default option and reenable Show Allocation Indication.
