View process resource utilization as a percentage of takt time

You can view process resource utilization as a percentage of takt time to see how close resource allocation is to 100%. You can also define thresholds for process resources to ensure that they are used efficiently.

Note

First, you set resource utilization for the process line. After you set utilization for the process line, if desired, you can also set it at the process station level.

Prerequisites

You must set the EP_LineBalancingProcessResourceUtilization value to true to display process resource utilization as a percentage of takt time for a process line. In addition, you must add EP_LineBalancingProcessResourceUtilization to the AWC_StartupPreferences in the Teamcenter rich client.

Procedure

1. If you have not done so already, search for and open an existing work package, and navigate to the Line Balancing page.

2. Click Manage Utilization to define the process resource utilization thresholds for the process line.

   The process station lists the name, its total utilization, and its assigned process resources.
   
   If you create a new process station, Teamcenter Easy Plan assigns the utilization for the process line to the station.
   
   When you select a process station, Easy Plan highlights that station and it turns blue.
   
   As you assign operations to process resources, Easy Plan updates utilization statistics for the process station.

   Line Takt Time displays the total takt time allocated for the process line. The value is displayed in nominal time.

   Manage Utilization displays process resource utilization for the human and machine resources for the process line. Click a Manage Utilization button to set thresholds for process resources on the line.

3. In the Human Utilization (%) and Machine Utilization (%) sections, type in values for the Lower Threshold and Upper Threshold and then click Save.

4. (Optional) Assign operations to operators to balance the line as needed. Teamcenter Easy Plan updates the utilization resource statistics for the process station.

5. (Optional) In a process station, hover on a process resource to review its utilization statistics.
