What is Multi-BOM Management?

Multi-BOM Management enables you to link and assign content across representations for different lifecycle stages or uses for a product. This application is an alternative to Multi-Structure Manager for organizations that support most Multi-Structure Manager use cases, but require support for additional functionality. Examples of additional functionality that Multi-BOM Manager provides include:

• Full Bill of Materials (BOM) support for EBOM (Engineering BOM)-MBOM (Manufacturing BOM) and CAD BOM-part BOM alignment.

• Bill of equipment (plant) definition, editing and change reconciliation, and read-only access to process manufacturing information such as bill of process (BOP), plant BOP, and product BOP.

• The ability to manage variability in BOMs using Product Configurator, to define and run test scenarios for BOMs and plants, and apply manufacturing change notices (MCNs) to BOMs only.

• The capability to generate BOM and plant reports.

If you working with any of the following, use Manufacturing Process Planner instead:

• Process planning cases that include BOP authoring (assignment of parts  from BOM to processes or operations, or assignment of a workarea from a plant to processes or operations).

• Work instructions authoring, line balancing, logistics planning, time management, 4D planning, or automotive body in white processes.
