Managing and tracking changes > Using ECNs and MCNs
Create an MCN
A typical manufacturing change notice (MCN) process begins with an engineering request for a change to a product. In My Teamcenter, a lead planner or administrator must first create the MCN and determine its status and effectivity. This example illustrates how a lead planner may create an MCN after obtaining changes from an ERP system or board meeting and submit it to a process planner.
Procedure
Open My Teamcenter.
Create a new MCN.
Choose File→New→Change.
In the New Change dialog box, in the Complete List, select Manufacturing Change Notice , and click Next.
In the Description text box, type text describing the reason for the change notice.
Click Assign.
In the Synopsis text box, type a brief synopsis of the change.
The synopsis is the text that appears after the change ID and revision.
Click Finish and then click Cancel.
In My Teamcenter, in the Home tab, the change notice is displayed.
- Define a release status.
Note Release statuses are defined by an administrator in the MEMCN_release_statuses preference.
Expand the change notice and select the revision row.
On the Summary tab, in the Actions group, click New Workflow Process.
In the New Process Dialog dialog box, from the Process Template list, select a release status template and click OK.
The MCN reflects your change and a collection of Items folders similar to those in Change Manager is displayed.
- Set the effectivity date range.
On the Home tab, select the status line, and on the Viewer tab, in the Effectivity Viewer, double-click the release status.
In the Release Status Effectivity dialog box, in the Effectivity Range group, select From Date and To Date values for which the MCN is effective.
- Inform the process planner of the MCN name and the requested BOP changes from the ERP system or board meeting.
