Create a new structure using Multi-BOM Management

Procedure

Choose File→New→Item, or click Create New Item .
In the New Item dialog box, select one of the item types from the list. Note You cannot add a resource item type to an item in Multi-BOM Management. For more information on creating additional item types, see BMIDE for Data Model Design.
Click Next.
Enter the ID number to be assigned to this new product. If this new product is a revision of an existing one, type the ID of the existing product. You can assign a unique revision number in the Revision field.To let the system automatically assign a unique ID, click Assign.
Type a name for the new product. Make it unique so you can search the database using this term.
Select Show as new root to specify that the newly created item is opened as a root object. It is not pasted to the selected item. If you do not select this option, the new item is pasted as a child of the selected item.If the Show as new root option is selected but unavailable, Teamcenter does not allow you to create a new object under the selected object, for example, if you try to create a work area under a process.
Type a product description.At this point, you have all the information required to create a new item.
(Optional) Select a unit of measure from the Unit of Measure list.
(Optional) Click Next to add optional information, such as filling out the item's forms, or checking the item out.
(Optional) Click Define Options to specify the following:

Select Use item identifier as default display or Use revision identifier as default display if you created an alternate identifier for the item and want to use it as the default display object.

Select Check Out Item Revision on Create to check the newly created item out of the database immediately upon creation.

Click Finish to create the new product.
Click Close to close the New Item dialog box.
