Clone or reference a plant BOE while creating an alternative plant BOP

While creating an alternative plant bill of process (BOP), you can also clone or reference the plant bill of equipment (BOE).

You can create an alternative work package that contains a fully cloned plant or a partial alternative from a selected process or work area in the Process Planning and Line Balancing task pages.

Note

If you create an alternative from a master work package that contains a BOP or BOE structure with a released status, the BOP or BOE status does not carry over from the master. Easy Plan creates the structures in your clone with no status.

Prerequisites

• This feature is available only for work packages that contain a plant BOP.

• To enable the Create in background check box in the Create Alternative dialog box, you must set up a dispatcher with asynchronous mode in the environment and you must define the relevant preference DISPATCHER_CLIENT_INSTALLED_ALTERNATIVE.

EP_CreateAlternativeTemplateNameForBOE	Cloning rule when creating an alternative plant BOE from a master. The default value is ProjectWorkAreaTemplate.
EP_CIoneAlternativeTemplateNameForBOE	Cloning rule when cloning an alternative plant BOE from another alternative plant BOE. The default value is EP_ProjectCloneAlternativeTemplateForBOE.
EP_CreateAlternativeTemplateName	Cloning rules for plant BOP when creating an alternative plant BOP from a master plant BOP. The default value is ProjectPlantBOPTemplate.
EP_CloneAlternativeTemplateName	Cloning rules for plant BOP when creating an alternative plant BOP from another alternative plant BOP. The default value is EP_ProjectCloneAlternativeTemplate.

Procedure

1. If you have not already done so, search for and open the work package from which you want to create an alternative work package with a full or partially cloned plant BOP and/or plant (BOE).

2. On the Manage Work Package page, do one of the following.
   
   To create a full alternative, on the Manage Work Package page, click Create Alternative . Note If you are working with an alternative work package, the command name Create Alternative is renamed Clone Alternative.
   
   To create a partial alternative, from a master work package, navigate to the Process Planning, High Level Planning, or Line Balancing task page, and do one of the following.
   On the Line Balancing page, from the header toolbar, click Manage Partial Alternatives → Create Partial Alternative .
   
   On the Process Planning page, in the Process panel, select a process line or process area station, and then click Manage Partial Alternatives → Create Partial Alternative .
   
   On the High Level Planning page, in the BOP panel, select a process line or process area station, and then click Manage Partial Alternatives → Create Partial Alternative .
   From any of these locations, you can search for and select partial alternative data for the selected line or process area station by selecting Manage Partial Alternatives → Search Partial Alternatives, and then selecting that partial alternative.

3. (Optional) In the Create Alternative dialog box, in the Name text box, modify the default value.

4. In the Alternative Scope group, select the Item Type check boxes for those structures that you want to carry over to the alternative work package.
   Selected Scope Details lists the plant BOP and plant in the work package line or process area station you selected as the plant. Whatever work area has been assigned to the line or process area station object you selected is considered in the scope.

5. For the Plant BOP and Plant bill of equipment (BOE), from the Cloned/Referenced list, specify whether each structure must be cloned or referenced.
   Note
   
   If you are partially cloning the plant (BOE), the work area assigned to the selected plant BOP node is considered for cloning. If a work area is not assigned, details for fixing this problem are displayed in the Plant section of the Selected Scope Details group.
   
   Only plant BOP and plant structures can be cloned or referenced. Other item types can only be referenced.
   
   To keep a fully cloned, stand-alone plant, deselect all item type check boxes except Plant.

6. From the Cloning Rule lists, select a preferred template for each applicable structure, and click Create.
   Cloning rules are customizable. If no custom cloning rules are defined, the default cloning rule is applied.

7. (Optional) To open the alternative work package by default in a new tab, select the Upon creation, open in another tab check box.
   Note If your browser window is in a private browsing mode, the automatic opening of the new tab might be blocked.

8. (Optional) If you selected the Upon creation, open in another tab check box, select the Create in background check box to create the alternative work package asynchronously. Once the alternative work package is created, an alert is displayed in your Alerts and the work package from which it was created lists the alternative as a link in the work package Overview.
