Create an EBOM with associated PMI from a separate design BOM
Using NX and Active Workspace, you can create an engineering bill of materials (EBOM) with associated product manufacturing information (PMI) from a separate design BOM (DBOM).
Procedure
In NX, open the DBOM with associated PMI that you want to use as your EBOM source. In this example, the DBOM is 000722.
Choose File → Save → Force Save All, and in the resulting Save All Parts in Session message, click Save All. Any partially and minimally loaded parts are fully loaded and all loaded parts are saved.
In Active Workspace, search for and open the DBOM 000727 that you created and click Open . DBOM 000727 is displayed. All parts and assemblies display the type Design Revision.
Select the root node and click Align → Create Engineering BOM .
With the root node still selected, click Align → Open Alignment View . On the Align page, the Design BOM and Engineering BOM panels display the translation from DBOM to EBOM. If you enable Show Alignment Status, the alignment state of converted parts and assemblies is displayed.
In Easy Plan, create or open a work package, and in the Manage Work Package page, add the converted EBOM. The converted EBOM inherits the name of the DBOM with the text P_ prepended to it (in this example, P_000727).
Add an MBOM and bill of process (BOP) to the work package, and then navigate to the Work Instructions Authoring page, add operations to the process, and assign parts to those operations.
With a part containing the PMI selected, click the PMI Assembly Level tab and from the Select method list, assign content.
(Optional) Enable the Show Comparison assignment comparison control and select elements to review the impact of PMI assignments.
