Add or remove DCDs

You can add and remove data collection definitions (DCDs) to a process, process station, operation, compound operation, or execution step in both plant and classic bill of process (BOP) data models to better define your inspection plan.

Note

• The purpose of DCDs is to collect operational production data that is associated with production equipment and processes on the shop floor.

• You can add DCDs by creating them yourself, importing them from CAD applications to operations, or defining them in Teamcenter Manufacturing Process Planner (MPP).

• DCDs that you create share the same behaviors as those generated in MPP.

Procedure

1. If you have not done so already, search for and open an existing work package, or create a new work package, and then navigate to the Process Planning or Work Instructions Authoring page.

2. On the Process tab or panel, select the process, process station, operation, compound operation, or execution step for which you want to add or remove DCDs.

3. In the information panel, select the DCDs tab.

The DCDs tab contains any DCDs previously created for the selected object.

Tip If you do not see the DCDs tab, click the arrow in the tabs menu to expand or collapse the tabs list.

4. In the DCDs tab, click More Commands and then select Create DCD .

5. In the Create DCD dialog box, click Type and select the type of DCD you want to create.

You can choose from:

Boolean

Buyoff

Duration

Image

Integer (whole number)

Procedure Completion

Real Number (can include fractions)

String

Time Stamp

User Defined LOV (list of values)

6. Type a unique Name, and add any properties required for the DCD you are creating.

You can define DCD details for numeric, string, and Boolean DCDs, including:

Upper and lower limit specifications for numeric DCD types, such as standard, alert, and caution Low Limit and High Limit numeric values. Default values are validated against the Minimum Alert Allowed Value and Alert Maximum Value values. String DCDs are similarly restricted by the value of Allowed Characters.

Data Acquisition Method, in which you specify how data should be acquired (manually, semiautomatically, or automatically).

Out of Limits Result, in which you define the result if a value is outside a low or high limit.

Field Precision, in which you define the number of decimal places required after the point in real numbers.

7. Select one of the following options. OptionDescription To create a DCD and define another DCD Click Create & Add More

To create a single DCD Click Create

8. In the list on the DCDs tab in the information panel, review the properties you defined in step 6.

9. (Optional) If you need to remove one or more DCDs, select the DCDs to be removed in the list, and in the DCDs tab toolbar, click Remove DCD .

10. Select Yes to the prompt verifying that you want to remove the DCDs. Teamcenter Easy Plan removes the selected DCDs.
