Run process data validation checks

You can use the data validation feature with processes in Teamcenter Easy Plan to verify whether manufacturing processes and operations are ready to be released. You can define and select criteria for validation checks that allows you to target validation, and ensures that specific aspects of the bill of materials (BOM) and other processes are thoroughly reviewed and validated.

By categorizing validation criteria, you can focus on specific areas of interest and ensure that all necessary checks are performed comprehensively. You can also filter the test results to focus on the most important results.

Note

Your Teamcenter implementation team creates and maintains validation check tests that are specific to your environment. The tests shown in this topic are for example purposes only.

Prerequisites

You must set the EP_ShowCriteriasForValidationChecksForBOP and EP_ShowCriteriasForValidationChecksForBOM value to Engineering, Manufacturing, Tools, Ergonomics, and Service, and Manufacturing_MBM and Engineering_MBM respectively. In addition, you must add EP_ShowCriteriasForValidationChecksForBOP and EP_ShowCriteriasForValidationChecksForBOM to the AWC_StartupPreferences in the Teamcenter rich client.

Procedure

1. If you have not done so already, search for and open an existing work package and navigate to the Process Planning or Work Instructions Authoring page.

2. In the Process tab or Process panel, select a process or operation. The process or operation you selected is the scope for the validation check.

3. In the page's top toolbar, click Show Validation Checks . The Validation Checks panel opens in place of the Viewer panel.

4. Click Run Validation Checks.

5. From the list Select the criteria as required, then click Run.

   Easy Plan displays the Validation Results table. By default, results are filtered to display errors only. Note When you select a BOM line in the Validation Results table, additional information is provided in the Details section. In addition, Easy Plan synchronizes the BOM line selection in the Validation Results table, and highlights the corresponding BOM line in the Process table or panel.

6. (Optional) Click Warning or Pass to display those test results in the Validation Results panel. Tip Click Clear to remove all applied filters from the validation results.

7. Resolve the failed validation checks.

      Tip 
        Easy Plan synchronizes data for the selected BOM line in the
            Process tab or panel of the assembly. If you
          are using validation in the Work Instructions
            Authoring page, the Editor panel
          and the tabs below the Editor panel are also
          synchronized.
      
    
    
      Most validation checks are in one of the following categories.
      
        
          Object-specific—For example,
            if an object is not released, the check fails. You can submit the object to a
            workflow to resolve this error.
        
        
          Attribute-specific—These
            failures indicate that an object does not have required data. For example, the
            checks might fail if an operation does not have a find number, or a required
            document is not attached to an object. You can use the tabs below the Editor to resolve these errors.
   

8. (Optional) Select another BOM line in the Validation Results table to review and resolve problems.

9. (Optional) In the Process tab or panel select the scope and run another validation check to confirm that you have resolved all failed tests for the scope. When all validation checks pass, the assembly is ready for release.
