Managing the enterprise BOP > Creating a logical designator on a process, operation, or partition
Automatically create part usage data from existing properties
To create part usage information (logical designators) for every part can be time-consuming. Teamcenter provides a mechanism to create this information based on a concatenation of other BOM line properties. Consider the following situation. Company A creates its Usage Address property value from two other properties called UPC and FNA. The usage address uniquely identifies each part. Company A uses the following business process.
Procedure
The BOM for Model A is about to be released to manufacturing. During the release process, the designer runs the me_stamp_ids utility to populate the Usage Address property. Alternatively, the designer can run a workflow based on the ME-stamp-ids-AH action handler that performs the same task.
The manufacturing planner ensures that the processes and operations contain the correct logical assignment designator and consumes the parts in the product BOP by resolving them in the Assignments view.
Further along the manufacturing cycle, parts and subassemblies in Model A are added and removed.
The designer again runs the utility to repopulate the usage address.
The planner again resolves the parts and the added or removed parts are assigned to the process.
