Author a master recipe

Author a master recipe to organize recipe unit procedures, operations, equipment, and materials for use in a plant.

A master recipe is equipment-specific and provides detailed, concrete manufacturing formulas for specific batch sizes at a specific plant location. Author a general or site recipe if you instead need to organize processes, operations, equipment, and materials for a variety of situations.

Procedure

1. If you have not already done so, create or open a Master Recipe Authoring work package, and from the Manage Work Package page, click the Master Recipe Authoring task button.

2. On the Master Recipe Authoring task page, click Add Procedure, and in the Add Procedure dialog box, from the Type list, choose Recipe Procedure.

3. Type a recipe procedure Name and optional Description, and then click Add. The initial recipe procedure is displayed, and authoring is enabled. The highest level of execution in a batch recipe, the recipe procedure generally consists of a sequence of resource unit procedures (RUPs), further broken down into operations and phases. An RUP, which defines how a specific piece of equipment or resource executes a set of operations, is similar to a recipe procedure but is specifically linked to a resource unit such as a mixer, reactor, or filtration unit. An RUP provides a way to standardize reusable execution logic for specific equipment.Tip Use a recipe procedure when defining the overall batch process from start to finish. Use an RUP when defining reusable logic for a specific equipment unit that can be used across multiple recipes.

4. In the process, click More , and choose a command.
   Note All commands in the ERM authoring pages include New, Search, and Classification tabs. Use the preferred option to author your recipe.
   
   The New command prompts you for a name and optional description.
   
   The Search command returns text results based on keywords and wild cards. If the results are too broad, click Filter to reduce results by properties such as type, owner, classification, and category.
   
   The Classification command lets you search for capabilities using classified result indices. You can configure ERM classification class and attributes. For more information on classifications, see Basic and Advanced Classification on Active Workspace - Usage.
   
   
   
   
   To add a recipe unit procedure to the right of the selected procedure, click the right add icon and select Add Recipe Unit Procedure.The recipe procedure is displayed in its own stage. To add a parallel recipe unit procedure below the selected object, click the lower add icon and again select Add Recipe Unit Procedure . Note If available, you can also add procedures above and to the left of the selected element by clicking the appropriate add icons .
   To add equipment needed to complete the process, select Add Equipment, search for and select the material to be assigned, and click Assign. To create a conditional PERT flow, click Create Flow.
   To replace the selected recipe procedure, select Replace Procedure and locate a classified procedure in the Replace Procedure panel.
   To add a recipe unit procedure immediately after the recipe procedure, select Add Recipe Unit Procedure.In this example, the recipe procedure is displayed in its own stage. Because it contains parallel procedures and operations, which in turn reference equipment and materials, that content is referenced in the master recipe's root recipe procedure. You can expand and collapse the content by clicking More or Less.
   To add a recipe unit procedure to the right of the selected recipe procedure by searching for a specific classification, select Add Recipe Unit Procedure After, and then select Add as Clone.
   To add a parallel recipe unit procedure below the selected procedure, select Add Recipe Unit Procedure as Parallel. The new recipe unit procedure is displayed in its own stage. To delete the recipe procedure and all elements below it, select Delete.

5. Select any recipe unit procedure, click More , and choose a command.
   
   To add a serial unit procedure to the right of the selected recipe unit procedure by searching for a specific classification, select Add Recipe Unit Procedure After, and then select Add as Clone.
   To add a parallel recipe unit procedure below the selected recipe unit procedure, select Add Recipe Unit Procedure as Parallel.
   To replace the selected recipe unit procedure, select Replace Recipe Unit Procedure and locate a classified procedure in the Replace Recipe Unit Procedure panel.
   To add an operation to the selected recipe unit procedure, select Add Operation. To add equipment needed to complete the process, or to add capability classification elements to the process, select Add Equipment or Add Capability. Equipment and capability classifications often include properties, which you define after you select the classification.Note For more information on classifications, see Basic and Advanced Classification on Active Workspace - Usage. Equipment and capability classifications are displayed as properties of any process or operation. To delete the selected recipe unit procedure and all elements below it, select Delete.

6. Select any operation, click More , and choose a command.
   To add an operation to the selected operation, select Add Operation. To add a serial operation below the selected operation, select Add Operation After. The new operation is displayed in the same process stage. To add a parallel operation below the selected operation, select Add Operation as Parallel. The new operation is again displayed in the same process stage. To add classification elements to the operation, such as the minimum and maximum time the operation should take to complete, select Add Capability. Capabilities are displayed as properties of the operation. To define equipment needed to complete the operation, select Add Equipment. To add materials based on your work package formula, select Add Materials and click Assign. To delete the operation, select Delete.

7. Add additional objects to the processes and operations you have defined as detailed in steps 3 and 4 above.

8. (Optional) Edit your master recipe.

9. When satisfied with your chart, in the task's upper toolbar, click Save .
