Represent workers or machines in a station

Workers or machines at a station are represented in line balancing by Process Resource objects. Each process resource represents a worker or a machine to which you can assign operations and balance the operations in a station using the Line Balancing Chart view.

Procedure

1. Select a station and choose File→New→Process Resource to create a process resource (Mfg0ProcResource) for each worker or machine that you need at that station.The Number of Workers property on the station increases or decreases when you create or delete a process resource.

Note To add a process resource to a station, the MELBChartStationTypes preference must be set to Mfg0MEProcStatn.

2. Associate operations with the process resources by dragging them from a process or station to the process resource.

Tip Add the following columns to the structure view to see which operations and process resources are associated.

Allocated Lines

Lists operations that are associated with the selected process resource.

Associated Process Resource

Lists the process resource to which the selected operation is associated.

You can associate operations to one process resource only. If you drag an operation to a second process resource, the association to the first is broken and replaced with the new association.

3. Open the Process Resources view to display a list of unallocated operations (highlighted in blue) as well as operations allocated to stations. Drag operations from the unallocated group to the desired station.

4. In the Line Balancing Chart view, open the view menu and choose Switch View→Details View to drag the operation to the appropriate process resource. All the operations in the station are displayed in the left bar. Operations that are already allocated to a process resource are displayed in gray.The capacity of the station is calculated as follows:

When you do not use process resources: Capacity = takt time * number of workers

When you do use process resources: Capacity = Sum of (takt time * capacity percentage of the process resource) You can specify a capacity percentage between 0 and 100 in the Capacity Percentage property on the process resource.

Note If the PSM_Enable_Product_Configurator preference is set to true OR the configurator context is attached to the PlantBOP structure, the PlantBOP→Open With→Line Balancing Chart option is not available in the rich client.
