Work with change notices > Using different change notice types
Connect changes from multiple ECNs into one MCN
To more efficiently address changes to a target BOM, such as a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM), you can connect multiple engineering change notices (ECNs) to a single manufacturing change notice (MCN).
While working on change consolidation from EBOM to MBOM, you can review the changes from each of the associated ECNs in the Change Summary panel.
Prerequisites
Set the following preference values.
EP_SplitChangeNotice = MBOM (default = MBOM).
EP_Merge_Multiple_ECN_to_MCN = MBOM (default = blank).
EP_ReleaseStatusOnECNToAllowMergeOrSplit = a valid value, such as TCM Released.Note If EP_ReleaseStatusOnECNToAllowMergeOrSplit is set to a valid value, the effectivity for the merging ECNs must be identical.
Procedure
From the Home page, click Changes .
On the Changes page, locate and select an ECN, such as ECN1, for which you want to locate impacted work packages.
In the header toolbar, click Impacted Work Packages .
On the Change Impact page, select a single work package and click Create a Manufacturing Change Notice .
In the Synopsis text box, type a name for the new MCN and click Create and Submit.
If another ECN, such as ECN2, impacts the same work package, do the following.
Click Impacted Work Packages .
On the Change Impact page, select a single work package and click Connect to MCN .
At the confirmation prompt, click Connect. On the Changes page, the ECN is merged with the MCN, as indicated in the Active Change Notice column.(Optional) Assign additional ECNs to the MCN by repeating step 6.
In the Work Package column, open the work package by clicking Open , and then in the work package page, click the BOM Alignment task button.
In the Track Your Work dialog box, select Track with this change notice, select the MCN referenced in the Active Change Notice column, and click Continue.
On the BOM Alignment task page, enable the Show Assignment State comparison control .
In the Change Summary panel, the Connected Changes list displays an ECN previously associated with the work package. The Change Summary panel displays changes related to that specific ECN.Disable Show Assignment State and from the Connected Changes list, select a different ECN, and re-enable Show Assignment State.
Propagate the changes from source BOM to target BOM using the Change Summary panel for the selected ECN from the Connected Changes list.
For any other connected ECNs, repeat this process.
