Managing the enterprise BOP > Assign parts using logical assignments

Resolve part assignments

You can resolve part assignments as you create logical assignments. Alternatively, you can perform this task after creating the logical assignment.

Procedure

  1. Ensure the product structure to resolve against is loaded.

  2. Right-click a process or operation, and then choose Open with→Assignments.Teamcenter displays the Assignments view displaying existing logical assignments.

  3. (Optional) Select one or more logical assignments to resolve. Alternatively, if you do not select a logical assignment, all logical assignments are resolved.

  4. On the view toolbar or the main Tools→Logical Assignment menu, choose Resolve Part Assignments, or click the Resolve Logical Part Assignments button.Teamcenter displays the Resolve Logical Part Assignments dialog box.

  5. If more than one product structure is loaded, select the loaded structures to resolve against in the Select product structure(s) for resolve box.

  6. (Optional) Select Resolve Process Descendants to pick a recursive resolution, and then click OK. Recursive resolution is available only when you select a process or partition.Choose a recursive resolution when you select the assignments of a process, rather than a logical assignment. The system resolves all logical assignments of the process and all logical assignments of all operations under it.Teamcenter resolves the selected assignments. By default, if a part is configured out and you re-resolve the same structure, the part is removed. Additionally, if the process contains consumed parts from one structure and you resolve using another structure, the consumed parts from the first structure are removed. Your administrator can change this default behavior using the MERetainResolvedParts preference. If the value of this preference is set to true, the resolution of a logical assignment definition always adds new parts. It does not remove any existing consumed parts regardless of the configuration of the loaded structure. This means that a process structure can contained consumed parts from multiple products. Note Logical designators may not be unique in the product structure. If multiple product lines have the same logical designator or the logical assignment specifies only a partial logical designator, Teamcenter resolves to multiple assignments.
