Install and configure the universal viewer

The universal viewer provides cross-platform support for Linux and Windows platforms and supports various file types without requiring you to install and configure multiple different viewers. In addition, the universal viewer displays MS Office documents without converting Office files to PDF format.

Note

If you view Microsoft Office files in your environment, you must install the Microsoft Office Online Server.

Prerequisites

Before you can view datasets in the universal viewer, you must modify the AWC_defaultViewerConfig.VIEWERCONFIG preference settings. The format for the preference is .=.

Caution

To ensure that thumbnail images align properly in the universal viewer, please change the preference value from SnapShotViewData.Awp0ImageViewer=Image to SnapShotViewData.Awp0ImageViewer=Image,ThumbnailImage.

For example, these are the preference formats for MS Office:

• MSWord.Awp0TcooViewer=word

• MSWordX.Awp0TcooViewer=word,Fnd0word

• MSExcel.Awp0TcooViewer=excel

• MSExcelX.Awp0TcooViewer=excel

• MSPowerPointX.Awp0TcooViewer=powerpoint

• MSPowerPoint.Awp0TcooViewer=powerpoint
