Managing the enterprise BOP > Creating enterprise BOP structures
Create a process area
A process area is a specific work area in a process plan. You can only create process areas under a plant BOP.
Procedure
- Select a plant BOP root structure.
Note You cannot create a process area as a root object, nor can you open it as a root object.
Choose File→New→Process Area.Teamcenter displays the New Process Area dialog box.
Select one of the process area types from the list and click Next.
You can select from Process Area, Mfg0MEProcStatn (Process Station) Mfg0MEProcLine, (Process Line) or Mfg0ProcResource (Process Resource). Process Resource is also available when you use the File→New→Process Resource command. The Process Station and Process Line objects derive from the Process Area object and have the following limitations:
You cannot create a process line under a process station.
You cannot create a process area under a regular process.
You can use the MEAllocationLevel preference to limit the type of process area to which you can allocate operations. For more information about creating additional plant BOP types, see BMIDE for Data Model Design.
Enter the ID number to be assigned to this new plant BOP. You can assign a unique revision number in the Revision ID box. To let the system automatically assign a unique ID, click Assign.
Type a name for the new process area, following your company's naming standards.
(Optional) Type a description of the new process area.
Click Finish to create the new plant BOP, or click Next to add more information.
If the master forms contain mandatory fields, you must click Next at this step.
(Optional) Define any additional process area master form information, and then click Finish to create the new process area, or click Next to add more optional information.
(Optional) Define any additional process area revision master form information, and then click Finish to create the new process area, or click Next to add more optional information.
(Optional) Assign the process area to one or more projects. The system displays the list of projects to which the process area can be assigned.
Select one or more projects from the Projects for Selection list.
Click the right-arrow button to move the projects to the Selected Projects list.
Click Finish to finish the project assignment and create the new process area, or click Next to add more optional information.
The process area is always owned by the project shown in the Owning Project box.
- (Optional) Define the display and checkout behavior.
If you created an alternate identifier for the process area, you can use the alternate identifier as the default display object. Select Use item identifier as the default display and Use revision identifier as the default display to set the alternate identifier as the default display object.
Select Check Out Process Area Revision on Create to lock the checkout of the associated process area revision when the process area is created.
- Click Finish to create the new process area.
