Apply a production program structure and add variants and effectivity to it

You can define the hierarchy of your production program structures and create multiple production program definitions. Moreover, you can create product variants more easily through an automated process that provides a filtered list of saved variant rules (SVRs).

A production program is structured as a three-level item hierarchy. It includes one or more definitions that store data for specific effectivity dates and lists of items representing product variants. Each definition specifies the targeted cycle time for the production line and the production rate for each variant. To ensure clarity, configure the BOM structure so that only one definition is visible for the production program. Production programs are stored in a collection, which is added to the collaboration context, allowing you to inspect and edit all programs consistently by opening the collection.

Prerequisites

Configure columns by adding BOMLine and other values to the EP_ProductionProgramStructureColumnPreference. You must also add EP_ProductionProgramStructureColumnPreference to the AWC_StartupPreferences in the Teamcenter rich client.

For more information, see the Preferences section in the Active Workspace Administration documentation for a description of preferences and how to set them.

Procedure

  1. If you have not done so already, on the Manage Work Package screen, create a production program. For details, refer to one of the following topics:
Author a production program in advanced mode Author a production program in simple mode

  2. In the Tasks pane, select Production Program Authoring.

  3. To add a production program definition, select the structure, then at the top right of the screen, click Add Definition, and enter the required details.

  4. To add product variants to a structure or definition, select the product definition to which you want to apply the product variants, then at the top right of the screen, click Show Variant Configuration.

Select the variant type → ....

In the Assign as Product Variant pane, select the applicable variants, then click Assign as Product Variant. The product variant definition is added.

  5. (Optional) In the Mfg0productionRate column, update the production rate.

  6. (Optional) In the Takt time column, update the takt time.

  7. Configure the production program structure based on occurrence effectivity, element effectivity, or variants..

  8. To add additional product variants to the structure or definition, repeat steps 3-6.
