Create DIPAs recursively

You can create multiple dynamic in-process assemblies (DIPAs) recursively.

Starting from a selected plant bill of process (BOP) element, such as an area, you can create DIPAs for objects below that element in the BOP structure that are connected to the start element via a PERT flow.

Prerequisites

Your administrator must set three preferences to define where DIPAs are created.

MEDynamicIPARecursiveCreateProcessTypes determines which object types are used to recursively generate DIPAs in the process subhierarchies. Default values include Mfg0MEProcStatnRevision, for the station, and MEProcessRevision.
MEDynamicIPARootItemTypes specifies the types of root item allowed by the product or manufacturing bill of material (MBOM) structures that are part of a DIPA. Default value = Item. Note If you create a custom item type that is subclassed instead of subtyped, or vice versa, you may have to edit the value of MEDynamicIPARootItemTypes and add your custom type.
MEDynamicIPATraversalClosureRule determines the closure rule to be used for traversal of the process structure to calculate the DIPA. Default value = DynamicIPAProcessOnlyWithPA. Note If you customize your process and add your own closure rule type derived from the item type, you may have to edit the transfer mode value of MEDynamicIPATraversalClosureRule.

Procedure

In a plant BOP, right-click the element where you want to start to recursively create DIPAs and then choose In-Process Assembly Tree → Create Recursively Dynamic Assembly Tree.

DIPAs are generated for each defined object type in the process subhierarchies. In the following example, DIPAs are created for all stations contained in the process flow beneath the selected AREA. Parts included in each station's process, including any parts inherited from previous stations in the PERT flow, are displayed in each station's DIPAs.

To create a recursive DIPA, you can start on any level defined in the preferences and that level defines a DIPA at every station level below the original. Based on MEDynamicIPARecursiveCreateProcessTypes preference values defined by your administrator, DIPAs can be created at the plant, area, line, or station level.
