Search for and clone existing process objects

You can search for an existing process object that was created in a process plan by its name or process ID, and clone that object into a selected process node. You can also choose which cloning rule to apply when you create objects from a template.

The Copy and Paste commands are available, respectively, from the bill of materials (BOM) and bill of process (BOP) toolbars. In Easy Plan, the ability to drag files or objects to other objects works the same way as it does in other applications. For more details on resequencing and moving elements, see Rules for cloning, moving, and resequencing objects in the BOM or the BOP.

Prerequisites

You must define which cloning rule process template is used to clone items in a process structure, using the Process.Template preference. Cloning rule options include:

  • Mapping_Consumes—Clones all consumed objects referenced by the template to the new object. Consumptions are mapped from the bill of materials (BOM) of the target work package.

  • Referencing_Consumes—References all consumed objects from the template to the new object.

  • Ignoring_Consumes—Clones the process object from the template, but ignores all consumed objects in the template.

In addition, you must add the Process.Template preference to the AWC_StartupPreferences in the Teamcenter rich client.

Procedure

  1. If you have not done so already, search for and open an existing work package that contains processes and operations, and navigate to the task page in which you want to work.

  2. Perform one of the following steps.

                 In the Process
                         Planning page, in the Process panel, select the object beneath which you want to
                     create a clone and click Add
                     .
                 In the Work Instructions
                         Authoring page, in the Process tab, select an operation and then in the Editor tab click Add
                     , and select
                         Add Clone.
                 In the Product BOP
                         Authoring page, in the Product
                         BOP panel, select the object beneath which you want to
                     create a clone and click Add
                     , then select
                     an option from the list. 
                 In the Plant BOP
                         Authoring page, in the Plant
                         BOP panel, select the object beneath which you want to
                     create a clone and click Add
                     , then select
                     an option from the list.
             
             The Add panel is

  3. Click the Search tab and type the process name or process ID in the search box.

  4. From the results list select one or more objects to use as clone templates, and then click Next.

  5. (Optional) Click Revision Rule, and select an option from the list.

  6. Click Cloning Rule and select an option from the list.
    Mapping_Consumes—Clones all consumed objects into the new object. Referencing_Consumes—References all consumed objects into the new object. Ignoring_Consumes—Ignores any consumed objects in the clone template, and only clones the process object.

  7. Click Add as Clone. The cloned object is added to the structure.
