Add or remove global alternate parts in an MBOM

You can add one or more global alternates to a node in a target BOM, such as a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM), to show global alternates for that node.

Global alternates are replacements for an object defined in the source BOM (EBOM) that can be used globally in MBOM assemblies across all EBOM product configurations. For example, a worker at the shop floor level might need a part from the global alternate list to use as an alternate part in the MBOM. To replace a part locally, use substitute parts.

Procedure

  1. Search for and open a work package and navigate to the BOM Alignment page.

  2. In the target (EBOM) panel, select the part for which you want to use, and add or remove alternates.

  3. In the information panels beneath the source and target panels, select the Overview tabs and scroll down to the Global Alternates groups.

  4. (Optional) To locate the equivalent part in the source BOM, right-click the selected part in the target BOM, choose Find in EBOM, and then reselect the part in the target BOM.
