Associate tests with process data

The Test Manager view allows you to use test case templates from the test library to create test case instances in a process structure. You can replace the placeholders created in the test case template with consumed parts from the process structure.

Procedure

1. In the BOP or BOM view, right-click the process to which you want to associate a test case instance and choose Open With→Test Manager.

The Test Manager view opens with the selected process as the scope of the view. Note You can change this scope by selecting a new process and clicking .

2. Select a process that is a child of the process on which you opened the Test Manager view and click .

3. Click to select the Test Case template to associate.

4. In the Name box, type a name for the test.

Note You can use the Structure Search view to search for a test case or search for it in your Home folder.

5. If there are parts required for this test:

In the Steps list, select the placeholder text.

In the process structure, select the required consumed part. This part must be a child of the process for which you are creating the new test.

In the New Test dialog box, click to add the selected part to the Placeholder Contents box.

The placeholder text changes from blue to green once objects are added to it.

6. Click OK.

The test instance is associated to the scope process and is listed in the Tests group of the Test Manager view.

7. (Optional) Modify the placeholder contents by clicking .

Caution If you later edit a test instance and receive a warning regarding a missing object reference, one or more of its placeholders are missing a part reference. If you continue despite the warning, when you save the test instance, the missing part references are deleted. If you must edit a test that is missing an object reference, a best practice is to configure the product to 150% BOM.
