PMI assignment indications and occurrence effectivities

PMI assignment icons let you review operations to which PMI objects are assigned.

This example shows how PMI assignment indications function in combination with occurrence effectivities.

Beginning with a simple process that contains two operations with no PMI assigned to either operation, you define an occurrence effectivity for Operation1 by selecting end item 027725 and specifying units 1-5. You similarly set an occurrence effectivity for Operation2 with the same end item, 027725, but instead specify units 6-10. These effectivities are mutually exclusive, because they have different unit ranges.

With Operation1 selected in the Process tab, you drag the PMI object Linear Dimension (2) from the PMI Assembly Level tab to the PMI tab in the Information panel.

The PMI is now assigned to Operation1. When you enable the Show Comparison

            assignment comparison
            control, the Consumed assignment
            indicator  is displayed.

When you also assign Linear Dimension (2) to Operation2, the PMI object retains the Consumed icon. Normally, assigning a PMI object to multiple operations automatically results in a Consumed Multiple Times icon, but this object retains the Consumed icon due to the effectivity calculations based on the operations.

Click the icon to highlight and review the PMI assignments in the Process tab.

Similarly, assigning an additional PMI object to both operations retains the single check mark. In this example, Linear Dimension (4) is assigned twice within the process, but appears to be assigned only once due to the two mutually exclusive effectivities.

When you remove the effectivities, Linear Dimension (2) and Linear Dimension (4) are still assigned to Operation1 and Operation2. They display the Consumed Multiple Times icon.

If occurrence effectivity is applied at the process level, that effectivity flows to each operation. In this example, a single occurrence effectivity, 1-10 (027725), applies to both operations in process BopPro1. Since Linear Dimension (2) and Linear Dimension (4) are assigned to both operations, both display the Consumed Multiple Times icon.
