Assign parts as background parts

You must assign parts as background parts before you can view those background parts in a structure during planning.

Prerequisites

The work package you are using must have an engineering bill of materials (EBOM) associated with it before you can assign parts as background parts in a structure.

Procedure

1. Open an existing work package, then navigate to the Background Parts Management page. Easy Plan loads the EBOM for the work package.

2. (Optional) In the EBOM tab, click Show Selected to indicate which lines you want to display in the Viewer panel.

3. Select one or more parts in the EBOM and click Assign as Background Part. Easy Plan assigns the selected items as background parts in the assembly, and lists those parts in the Assigned as Background Parts panel.

4. (Optional) To remove assigned background parts, select one or more parts in the Assigned as Background Parts panel and click Unassign.

5. (Optional) Navigate to the Process Planning or Work Instructions Authoring pages to plan manufacturing processes or create work instructions for the assembly.
