Configuring structures by using Product Configurator variants

Set the configurator feature to BOM line properties and create a solution variant

You can set BOM line properties based on Product Configurator feature selections and persist those properties while creating a solution variant.

Procedure

  1. In Product Configurator, create the following configurator context.

  2. In Structure Manager, create the following structure:

  3. Associate the configurator context you created in step 1 to the structure you created in step 2.

  4. Set the PSEConfiguratorFeaturePropertyMapping user level preference. This preference indicates the BOM line property (for example, occurrence note) you want to persist while creating a solution variant.Enable the BOM line property set under this preference. You may also want to enable the properties set using the configuration. For example, you can select AIE Occurrence Name for the mapping logic and set the occurrence name property based on this.

  5. Right-click columns and enable the AIE Occurrence Name, Occurrence Name, and Quantity columns if they are not available in your view.

  6. Create the mapping for the BOM line for which you want to set the properties:

Set the value for the BOM line property. BOM line properties have display names or system names, and the system names are in the format bl_xxx. You must use system names for the property. For example, if you choose the AIE Occurrence Name column to store the mapping and you want to set the value of the Engine family on the BOM line property, then the format of the mapping is: bl_occurrence_name=[Teamcenter]Engine.

Tip The format of the mapping is bl_property_name=[Namespace]Feature. If the mapping is not defined as per the format, the system does not set the property.

You can specify multiple occurrence notes or properties by specifying a semi colon (;) as a separator. Example: bl_occurrence_name=[Teamcenter]Engine;bl_quantity=[Teamcenter]Order.

Similarly, type bl_quantity=[Teamcenter]Order for BOM line 000028.

  1. Click Set option values for selected module on the toolbar to open Variant Configuration View. Select v6 engine and 30 order.

  2. To apply the selected features to the structure, click Applies the current configuration to the associated structure . The occurrence name and quantity columns have v6 and 30 as values for the respective BOM lines on which you created the mapping.

  3. After validating the configuration, create a solution variant. To do so, click Solution Variant.

  4. Close all the structures, open the solution variant you created, and verify the occurrence name and quantity columns. The occurrence name and quantity columns have v6 and 30 as values for the respective BOM lines on which you created the mapping. These values are not populated on generic variant assemblies.
