Apply different configurator contexts to the structures in a work

    package

To ensure that all the relevant variant information is captured and managed effectively, you can assign a specific configurator context to each structure in a work package.

You can preserve manufacturing-specific variants, such as plant-specific operations or shift-related information. This preservation is particularly important for mixed production scenarios in which multiple product and plant bills of materials (BOMs) are involved.

You can apply a configurator context to either a single structure or multiple structures within a work package. To achieve a uniform configurator context across all structures, add the value config1 to all existing values in the preference settings, ensuring that every structure shares the same configurator context. If you prefer to assign multiple configurator contexts, you can categorize them by specifying different values in the preference settings. This flexibility allows you to tailor the configurator contexts to meet specific requirements and maintain consistency where needed.

Example

For example, you can set the engineering bill of materials (EBOM) to config1, manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) to config2, plant to config2, product BOP to config2, plant bill of process (BOP) to config3, and production program to config3.

In this example, the MBOM, plant, and product BOP will share the same configurator context (config2), while the plant BOP and production program will share a different configurator context (config3). Initially, each structure will share its assigned configuration. Any modifications made to config1 will automatically be reflected in all structures assigned to config1, ensuring consistency and efficient management of updates. Similarly, changes to config2 will affect only the specific structures it is applied to, while updates to config3 will be reflected in both structures assigned to config3, maintaining uniformity across them.

Prerequisites

You must set the EP_WorkpackageContentType values to the following. To assign multiple configurator contexts, replace config1 with the specific configurator contexts you want to assign to structures in the work package, as described in the example.

Procedure

1. Search for a work package and navigate to the Manage Work Package page.

2. On a work package tile, click ... → Set.

            Teamcenter
                Easy Plan displays the Set Configurator Context to Work Package dialog
                box so you can locate a configurator context and associate it to structures in
                the work package.
   

3. Type a full or partial name, click Search, and then select a search result.

4. Click Set Configurator Context and then click Associate in the confirmation dialog box. Teamcenter Easy Plan associates the configurator context to the selected structure.

5. (Optional) To assign a configurator context to other structures in the work package, repeat steps 1-4.

6. (Optional) On any tile in the Manage Work Package page click Remove, and then click Remove in the confirmation dialog box. Teamcenter Easy Plan removes the association between the configurator context and all structures within the work package.
