Use Suggestive Planner with weld feature validation
To validate weld assignments to process stations following product updates, use Suggestive Planner and weld validation to identify discrete manufacturing features assigned from a bill of materials (BOM) to a bill of process (BOP) before all the connected parts are assigned.
Procedure
(Optional) If you want to assign manufacturing features to newly created operations under a suggested station using a default operation naming convention, set the name value using the preference MEWeldValidationDefaultOperationName.
(Optional) If you have weld feature types that require fasteners, define the fastener feature types to be added to the BOP, and add valid values for the weld point or arc weld property Mfg0weld_type to the preference MEWeldValidationFastenerFeatureTypes.
Example Weld Stud, Weld Nut. These values are necessary if a fastener and its weld feature type are assigned in the same station.
Select the BOM lines and the BOP process lines containing the partially assigned or unassigned parts and features you want to keep, reassign, unassign, and validate in the BOP, and set the Suggestive Planner scope.
In the BOP, right-click the BOP line to validate and choose Feature Assignment Validation.
In the Feature Assignment Validation dialog box, the Suggested Assignment tab lists previously assigned (current) and suggested assignments. The suggested assignment station is always the station where features were most recently connected to the parts.
- In the Suggested Assignment list, select a feature to review, assign, or reassign.
In this example, the lower list shows existing discrete join operations in a station where the features can be assigned.
- Do one of the following.
Click Assign. The features in the BOM lines reported in the lower list are assigned to the station.
Click Assign All. The features in the BOM lines reported in the lower list are assigned to a newly created operation under the Suggested Assignment location. If you set a name value using the preference MEWeldValidationDefaultOperationName, the operation uses that naming convention.
A dynamic in-process assembly (DIPA) does not display in the BOP but is internally created. If you defined fastener feature types to be added to the BOP for validation of feature assignments using the preference MEWeldValidationFastenerFeatureTypes, those fasteners and their associated weld features are assigned to the same operation.
Click the Unassign tab to review features with connected parts that are not assigned to those parts and click Unassign.
In the upper-right corner of the Feature Assignment Validation dialog box, click .
View assignment indications in the BOP to review the effect of the feature assignments and unassignments, and if necessary, run feature assignment validation again.
