Logical designator overview

You can attach a logical designator to a process, operation, or partition in the context of a generic bill of process (BOP) or product BOP. A logical designator is represented by two existing fields that are available on the absolute occurrences of the product structure, namely the usage address and the logical position. They have run-time property names of bl_usage_address and bl_position_designator, respectively. Your administrator can use Business Modeler IDE to assign lists of values (LOVs) to the fields to limit the possible selections.

Logical designators on partitions, processes, or operations are used by the accountability check when comparing two generic BOPs or two product BOPs.

Note

Propagating changes from a product BOP with logical designators used in multiple operations and a generic BOP using cloning can result in accountability errors. After running an advanced accountability check, operations that should display partial matches are sometimes reported as missing in target and missing in source. Use the Copy and Paste commands between generic and product BOPs rather than cloning.
