Drag or copy elements across task page panels and tabs

Using multiple task pages, you can drag or copy parts, resources, documents, and other files from a bill of materials (BOM) to a bill of process (BOP).

The Copy and Paste commands are available, respectively, from the BOM and BOP toolbars. In Easy Plan, the ability to drag files or objects to other objects works the same way as it does in other applications. Procedure

1. Search for and open a work package, and then navigate to the preferred task page (for example, Process Planning, Work Instructions Authoring, High Level Planning, or Product BOP).

2. Do any of the following to drag or copy elements across task page panels and tabs.
   Tip
   
   BOMs and BOPs are named differently in different task pages, to reflect the specific task.
   
   BOM items, usually parts and assemblies, are displayed in the upper-left Target Assemblies tab on the Process Planning page. However, they are contained in the Assembly panel on the High Level Planning page, or in the Assembly tab on the Work Instructions Authoring page. In some cases, your organization may replace the Target Assemblies tab on the Process Planning page with a Product BOP tab.
   
   BOP items can include a standard BOP, consisting of processes and operations, or a plant BOP, with parts, processes, operations, resources, and other manufacturing-specific elements assigned to stations, lines, and resources. BOPs are displayed in the Process panel on the Process Planning page or the Work Instructions Authoring page, but are shown in the BOP panel on the High Level Planning page.
   
   
   
   On the Work Instructions Authoring task page, to assign a file to multiple BOP items, drag or copy the file to appropriate items in the Process tab. To attach a file to a single BOP item, drag a single object onto the Editor panel.
   
   
   
   
   
   If you are working on the Process Planning, Work Instructions Authoring, High Level Planning, or Product BOP task pages, you can:
   
   Drag one or more files from an external location, such as file explorer, to a BOP item, such as a process or operation. Copy one or more files from an external location, such as file explorer, to one or BOP items, such as processes or operations.
   Drag or copy parts (BOM items) from the appropriate BOM panel or tab on your task page to the appropriate items in the appropriate process panel or tab. For example, on the High Level Planning page, copy or drag parts from the Assembly panel to a station or line in the BOP panel. Note When you copy from BOM to BOP, the Paste command in the BOP does not include Paste Before, Paste After, or Paste Into options. These options are specific to other actions, such as operations to clone, resequence or move objects. Also, for items copied from BOM to BOP, the option Paste as Reference pastes a copied part as a reference or occurrence of the original part, using the occurrence type MEHandle or a value mentioned in the preference MERelationTypePartsHandled.
   
   
   
   
   
   If you are working on the Process Planning or Work Instructions Authoring page, you can copy inspection definitions from a bill of quality in Active Workspace, and then paste those inspection definitions to operations or execution steps in the Process panel or tab.
   
   If you are working on the Process Planning page, you can also:
   
   
   Drag and copy work areas and resources from the Resources tab to one or more BOP items, such as operations, in the Process panel. Note In Process Planning, Work Instructions Authoring, or Product BOP, you can also copy classified resources from:
   
   Active Workspace to the Resources tab or panel.
   
   The Classification search to one or more BOP items in the Resources tab or panel.
   
   
   
   
   Drag or copy dynamic in-process assembly (DIPA) nodes and parts from the Background Parts tab to operations and resources in the Process panel of a plant BOP (not a classic BOP). By default, pasted parts have the occurrence type MEHandle. Dragging or copying of DIPA nodes assigns those nodes to operations, but gives DIPA nodes the occurrence type MEHandle and gives any parts under the DIPA the occurrence type MEConsumed so that parts beneath DIPA nodes are not associated.
   
   
   
   
   Once the drag or copy action is completed, if items cannot be dropped or pasted to specific BOP objects, an error message is displayed. If the action is successful, items are quickly assigned to the BOP, and are then displayed in the appropriate information panel tab when you select the relevant item.Note By default, pasted parts have the occurrence type MEConsumed. If you enable Show Allocation Indication, you can review the allocation and consumption of items between BOM and BOP in the BOM panel.
