Assign time to your operations, processes, and resources
Before you can use the Line Balancing Chart view, you must assign time to plant BOP objects in the chart.
Procedure
- In Teamcenter, open a collaboration context and associated views, or at the very minimum, open a plant BOP with an appropriate line structure.In this example, process 000975 ensures that the process operations within it occur sequentially. Operations 000988 through 000991 are not contained in a process and can be completed nonsequentially.
Note You must define a production program (linked product BOP) to define constraints, apply variants to a product, and check constraints.
In the plant BOP, right-click the BOM Line header and choose Insert column(s).
In the Change Columns dialog box, from the Available Items list, select Allocated Time, Takt Time, Capacity, and Capacity Percentage.
Click , and in the Displayed Columns list, select the added columns.
Click until the columns are after the BOM Line column, click Apply, and click Close.
In the plant BOP, right-click the process area, line, or station for which you want to balance processes and choose Open with→Line Balancing Chart.
Use the Line Balancing Chart view to measure the results of your time entries.
For each operation, in the plant BOP, click the Allocated Time column and type the calculated time that the operation should take the process resource to complete.
For each station, click the Allocated Time column and type the allocated time that all operations in the station should take to complete.
For each station, click the Takt Time column and type the production cycle time to be applied to that station.
For each process resource, click the Capacity Percentage column and type the productive capacity of the worker or machine resource.
The capacity (cycle time * number of workers) is shown as a red line in the graph. If there are different cycle times for each station, the gray lines show multiples of the cycle time of the first station—from the top of the plant BOP structure moving downward in the structure—whose cycle time is not equal to zero. Note When calculating the capacity for stations in a structure, Teamcenter uses the cycle time of the topmost station in the structure. In the preceding figure, the cycle time is 20 and the capacity is 40 because the first station, Stn1, has a cycle time of 20 with 2 workers assigned to it. If you change the cycle time of the top-level plant BOP from 0 to 30, the cycle time shown in the chart is 30, and the capacity is then 30 for the stations that have 1 worker and 60 for the station that has 2.
Note If the PSM_Enable_Product_Configurator preference is set to true OR the configurator context is attached to the PlantBOP structure, the PlantBOP→Open With→Line Balancing Chart option is not available in the rich client.
