Integrate Electronic Work Instructions with third-party tools
Integrate with Cortona
The Electronic Work Instructions application supports animations generated by the Cortona integration. The Cortona integration generates a Cortona dataset (Cortona Build) that holds an animation file of type .vmb. Electronic Work Instructions knows how to handle such datasets and runs the movie in the animations tab.
Note
Only datasets generated by the Cortona integration are handled by Electronic Work Instructions. Other dataset types created manually that contain .vmb or .wrl files cannot be displayed.
To see Cortona animations, you must install the Cortona 3D Viewer on each client machine. From the EWI_AnimationRelationsInfo preference, remove the value ewi0CortonaDatasets and replace it with the value ewi0topLine_cortonaDatasets.
To make Cortona text instructions visible, in the EWI_SinglePanelLayout, EWI_TwoPanelLayout, and EWI_ThreePanelLayout preferences, change the string WorkInstructions to CortonaWorkInstructions.
Before creating Cortona animations in Teamcenter, set the correct value for the Cortona profile (RapidConfiguration) by defining the following in the interactivity.xml file and exporting this value to the step comment:
ProcessOccurence/app/label
Teamcenter uses the value of the Cortona3D_Storage_SmartSave preference generated by the Cortona integration to determine where to attach the Cortona dataset. You can attach the dataset:
To the step directly. If the Cortona3D_Storage_SmartSave preference does not exist or if its value is set to MEProcessRevision=MEProcessRevision, the Cortona dataset is created under the step itself (such as process, operation), and the Electronic Work Instructions application shows the Cortona animations attached to the current step.
To a document item created under the step for this purpose. If the preference exists and is set to MEProcessRevision=DocumentRevision, the Cortona dataset is attached to the document item revision (automatically created for this purpose) under the step itself, and the Electronic Work Instructions application shows Cortona datasets attached to the document item under the current step.
