Search using the Find In command

Search for many elements in panels related to bill of materials (BOM) structures, bill of process (BOP) structures, and bill of equipment (BOE) structures, using Easy Plan's standard Find In command.

The Find In command is available in BOM, BOP, and BOE panels on many task-based pages, including the Process Planning, High Level Planning, Work Instructions Authoring, and Product BOP Authoring pages. Your search helps you to locate common panel elements, such as parts, assemblies, and manufacturing representations in a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM), or processes and operations in a BOP.

Procedure

1. Open the page containing the panel or panels to be searched.

2. In the panel that you want to search, select a single element that contains child elements, and click Find .
   The Find In dialog box is displayed, with the panel title appended. For example, the dialog box title is Find in Assembly if you are searching in the Assembly panel. Note If the Find In dialog box is open, and you try to open Find In from another panel, the first panel closes. To open the Find In dialog box for another panel, you must click Find
   again.

3. To search only within the single element that you selected, select the Find within check box.
   Note By default, the search is set to find a specific keyword or text string. If you select the root node in the panel structure, the Find within check box is not available.

4. For more options, click Advanced Search, and select a different search option.
   
   
   Item ID (default) searches for a full or partial name or item ID.
   
   Item Revision searches for a full or partial item revision name using several options, including Name, Item ID, Revision, and Alias ID.
   
   Quick searches by Name and Item ID.
   
   Note Advanced search options are defined in the Active Workspace preference AWBSavedQueries.

5. In the Find in dialog box, type the search term that you want to find, and click Search.
   Tip As in any standard search, you can use asterisks or wild cards to obtain multiple similar results. For example, type bolt_* to locate bolt_1, bolt_2, and so on.

6. In the Results list, select any preferred part or assembly.
   Each selection highlights the selected object in the panel from which you conducted the search. Tip If any search results are outside the scope of the page content being viewed, a warning icon is displayed:When you select the result, the selection does not synch with any object in the process tree. A best practice is to limit the search within the scope of your page content.

7. (Optional) To perform commands related to search objects:
   
   Select objects in the search results.
   
   Select commands in the panel from which you conducted the search, or in other panels.

8. Close the panel.
