Define variant formulas for operations

You can add and remove variants from operations in your production plan.

You can complete this task while you work in the Process Planning page or the Line Balancing page. This topic shows an example from the Process Planning page.

Procedure

1. If you have not done so already, search for and open a work package and then navigate to the Process Planning or Line Balancing page.

2. In the Process table expand the assembly and then select one or more operations.

3. Click Effectivity > Open Variant Formula .

   The Variant Formula dialog box opens. Within the Variant Formula dialog box:

   Each operation that you selected is a table column.
   
   
   Table cells indicate the status of variant formulas for each
    operation.
   A check mark in a table cell indicates that the formula is defined for
    that operation.
   
   
   The variant families or options are listed as table rows.
   
   
   The caret in each column heading opens a drop-down menu with additional
    options for that operation.
   

4. Click Pin , then click Start Edit .

   Easy Plan keeps the Variant Formula dialog box open until you click Unpin or close the dialog box.

5. Click inside a table cell to add a variant formula to an operation. Easy Plan adds a check mark to the table cell, to indicate that a variant formula was added for the operation.

6. (Optional) Click inside a table cell to remove a variant formula from an operation.

7. (Optional) Click the caret in a column heading to open a menu for that operation, and select an option:

   Split—Creates a second column for
    the operation, so that you can author variants with an OR formula.
   
   
   Clear—Removes all variants that are
    defined for the operation.
   
   
   Copy—Copies all variants for the
    operation, so that you can paste them onto another operation.
   
   
   Show Variant Formula Editor—Allows you to edit the existing variant
    formula.
   

8. Click Unpin and Save Edits , or click X to close the Variant Formula dialog box.

   Teamcenter Easy Plan returns to the previous page. The Variant Formula column displays the variant formulas you defined for each operation.
