Install software and tools for custom reporting

To generate and enable PDF reports, you must install Apache Formatting Objects Processor (FOP), Ghostscript, and the wkhtmltopdf tool. Electronic Work Instructions cannot directly display PDF documents in a report.

Caution

Please install the versions of third-party tools specified in this topic to ensure accurate report generation in Electronic Work Instructions.

Install Apache FOP

Procedure

1. Verify that the latest version of Java is installed on the server.
   Note You must install Java before you can install Apache FOP.

2. Browse to the Apache FOP page and download version 1.0 for your operating system.

3. Extract the downloaded file on the server into a folder. Apache FOP creates a folder when the installation files are extracted.
   Note This file path and folder cannot contain any spaces.

4. Run the Apache FOP installation.

Install Ghostscript

Procedure

1. Download Ghostscript version 9.10 from https://ghostscript.com/releases/gsdnld.html.

2. Run the Ghostscript installation and install Ghostscript in a path without spaces, for example, C:\ghostscript\9.10.
   Note During the installation you are asked whether to install special font support. Choose Yes.

Install the wkhtmltopdf tool

Procedure

1. Download wkhtmltopdf version 0.12.6-1 from https://wkhtmltopdf.org/.

2. Run the wkhtmltopdf installation.
