Create a work package

Procedure

You can create a work package (collaboration context) that typically contains an existing source bill of materials ((BOM) structure, a new or existing target BOM structure, and related process, plant, production program, and other structures. You can also search for and open an existing work package.

1. On your Home page, in the Actions section, click Create Work Package..

Tip

If you have a blank Home page, using an administrator account, try the following command to retrieve the tiles. Copyaws2_install_tilecollections -u=Tc-admin-user -pf=${TC_USER_PASSWD_FILE} -g=dba -mode=add -file=${TC_INSTALL_DIR}/mbc0mfgbvrcore/data/Mbm0mbmGatewayTilesCots_Install.xml

2. In the New Work Package dialog box, from the Type list, select MECollaborationContext or an optional subtype.

3. In the Properties group, type a name and a project group if necessary, and then click Create.

The Manage Work Package page is displayed.

4. To locate an existing EBOM, in the EBOM Content panel, click Add , and then do the following.

In the Add Product dialog box, in the Type text box, select the type of product.

Note If you are adding a usage EBOM, select Collaborative Product EBOM.

Select an appropriate EBOM to use as a template.

Note To search for EBOMs with subtypes other than Item, your administrator must define those subtypes in Teamcenter Manufacturing Process Planner using the preference EP_SearchSubtypesForEbom.

Select a Revision Rule to associate with the EBOM.

Click Add Product.

5. In the MBOM group, click Add .

Note Before you can add or modify an MBOM, you must first have an EBOM.

  To add a new MBOM or other target BOM, click Create New BOM, and in the Create Product dialog

box, type a name and optional description, and click Create.

To use an existing BOM, click Use Existing BOM, then search for and select the preferred BOM and add a revision rule. Note Available BOM items and item subtypes are defined by your administrator in Teamcenter Manufacturing Process Planner using the preference EP_CreateSubtypesForType_Item. To search for BOMs with other Item subtypes, your administrator must define those subtypes using the preference EP_SearchSubtypesForMbom.

  To create a new BOM by mirroring an existing structure, click Add BOM Using Mirror.
  In accordance with existing Teamcenter BOM

mirror preferences, the Add BOM Using Mirror command uses a specified source BOM structure to add a linked target BOM to your work package. For more information on BOM mirroring preferences in Easy Plan, see Easy Plan Deployment.

The BOM is created and added to the work package, and a link between the source BOM and target BOM is created.

6. (Optional) Add a product structure. This step is only required to display product assemblies in the steps of a manufacturing process.

7. Add a product bill of process (BOP).

8. Create or add a plant BOP.

9. (Optional) Add a plant.

10. Apply a production program (options or a variant definition).

11. Open the work package. On the Align page, the structures are loaded.

12. (Optional) Choose one of the following options.

To create work instructions, navigate to the Work Authoring Instructions page. To plan production processes, navigate to the Process Planning page.
