Drag parts and files onto the Editor

You can drag one or more parts or files to the Editor and assign those objects to an operation, regardless of which tab is active for the operation.

For example, if the

Resources

tab is active, you can drag several parts to the

Editor

without first switching to the

Parts

tab.

Prerequisites

You must set the EP_FileDatasetRelations value to include the following relation type values:

  • IMAN_specification

  • IMAN_reference

  • IMAN_manifestation

  • IMAN_Rendering

  • TC_Attaches

  • IMAN_UG_altrep

  • IMAN_UG_scenario

  • IMAN_Simulation

In addition, you must add the

EP_FileDatasetRelations

preference to the

AWC_StartupPreferences

in the Teamcenter rich client.

See the Preferences section in the Active Workspace Administration documentation for a description of preferences and how to set them.

Procedure

  1. Search for and open a work package, and then navigate to the Work Instructions Authoring page.

  2. Expand the bill of process (BOP) and select one or more objects within it.
For example, expand a subassembly and select one or more parts.
Note This topic uses parts in the example, but you can perform this task with parts or files.

  3. Drag the selected objects to an operation on the Editor.
Teamcenter Easy Plan does the following:
Changes the cursor within the operation to indicate that items were dragged onto it.

Assigns the correct relations type to the objects that you dragged onto the operation.

Displays a message that states how many objects were assigned to the operation.

  4. (Optional) Click the tab to view the objects you just dragged to the Editor. For example, if you dragged parts to an operation, click the Parts tab to view them.
