Managing

background parts

During planning you may need to display parts that were installed earlier in the manufacturing process, to give operators a clear view and clear instructions for the current operation. Parts and assemblies that are installed earlier in the manufacturing process are called background parts.

You must complete the following tasks, in order, when you work with background parts:

  1. Verify that the work package you are using has a source BOM, such as an engineering bill of materials (EBOM), associated with it.

  2. Assign parts as background parts in your assembly.

  3. Show or hide assigned assemblies for background parts.

On these pages, you can work with background parts:

  • Background Parts Management

  • BOM Alignment

  • Process Planning
