Managing the enterprise BOP > Assign parts using logical assignments
Create logical assignments
Procedure
Right-click a process or operation, and then choose Open with→Assignments.Teamcenter displays the Assignments view containing any assignments that already exist on the currently selected line.
Do one of the following:
Use the menu commands.
On the view toolbar or the main Tools→Logical Assignment menu, choose Assign Parts by Logical Designator, or click the Assign Parts by Logical designator button . Teamcenter displays the Assign Parts by Logical Designator dialog box.
Enter values in the Usage Address and (optionally) Position Designator boxes. If you leave the Position Designator field blank, the system treats this as a wildcard (*) entry.
Select the required assignment type from the list, for example, MEConsumed. The default entry provided in this box is specified by the MERelationTypePartsDefault preference.
(Optional) Select the Resolve the logical assignment check box to immediately resolve the assigned logical designator, and then select one of the loaded product structures in the Select product structure(s) for resolve section. You can also resolve the assignments at a later time.
Click OK to complete the part assignments.
Drag a part into the view if the part has a logical designator. If the dragged part does not have a logical designator, the system only creates an actual assignment and an error message appears. This result is similar to pasting the part on an operation or process in the BOP tree. Note
Dragging a part in this way only creates a logical assignment. The logical assignment is not resolved and the part is not consumed.
If an incremental change is currently active, all assignments are created in the context of that incremental change. Your administrator can modify the MEResolveBypassICForReleaseStatus preference so that new lines are not added to the incremental change context.
Teamcenter considers all occurrences, even if some assignments are filtered out by occurrence type.
