Create an MCN from a proposed change request

If you receive manufacturing-specific changes that are proposed in a change request (CR), you can push the change process to the next phase by creating a new manufacturing change notice (MCN) derived from that CR.

On the BOM Alignment task page, you can then evaluate the proposed change through the change request and take necessary actions to perform manufacturing-specific change. Any modifications are tracked under the active MCN.

Procedure

1. From your Home page, click Changes .

2. On the Changes page, locate and select the CR in which manufacturing-specific changes are proposed. For more information on how to create and manage change requests, see the Change Management on Active Workspace ─ Usage online help.

3. Click the Affected Items tab and review any problem items or impacted items for the manufacturing-specific change.

4. In the page toolbar, click New → Derive Change .

5. In the Derive Change dialog box, in the Type list, select Manufacturing Change Notice,

6. In the Synopsis and Description text boxes, type a name and optional description for the new manufacturing change notice (MCN), and click Derive and Submit.

7. Click the Reference Items tab. In the Implemented by list, the new MCN is displayed with a value of "Approved" in the Disposition column and "Executing" in the Change Maturity column.

8. Select the new manufacturing change notice revision and click Open . The MCN opens with tasks to perform and impacted items listed.

9. In the new MCN page, click the Affected Items tab and review the Impacted Items and Problem Items lists. These items are carried over from the CR.

10. Click the Reference Items tab and add the work package . Note that the original CR is referenced.

11. Open the work package referenced by the new MCN, open the BOM Alignment task page, and in the Track Your Work dialog box, select MCN and click Continue.
    On the task page, in the Change Summary panel, the Connected Changes list displays the name of the CR from which the MCN is derived. The MCN is visible in the header as an active change notice.

12. From the Connected Changes list, select additional change requests connected by the MCN, and evaluate any impacted or problem items.
