Apply a revision to a released operation and set its impact as

    handled

For a released operation with a change to the bill of materials (BOM) that does not require bill of process (BOP) modification, such as a part replacement, you can apply a revision to that operation while also setting its impact as handled.

This action, available when you run a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) to BOP accountability check from a planning page, helps to ensure that even though the operation does not require further changes, downstream systems are able to identify the changed part assignment.

Prerequisites

Set the EP_EnableReviseWithSetImpactAsHandledForBOMBOP preference to true to display and enable the Revise when setting impact as handled check box in the Change Summary panel.

If the operation has a release status, and if the preference is set to true, the Set Impact as Handled button is displayed if the Revise when setting impact as handled button is also available.

Procedure

  1. From a work package that contains an MBOM and BOP with BOM changes, and an active manufacturing change notice (MCN), navigate to a planning page such as Product BOP Authoring, and then run a BOM to BOP comparison. The Change Summary panel displays operations impacted by the MCN. For operations that have been released (submitted to a workflow), the Revise when setting impact as handled check box is enabled.Note The Revise when setting impact as handled check box is not displayed if:

You revise the operation independently, for example, by adding an activity to the operation.

The operation is not released, or has been released and revised with the same MCN.

The Set Impact as Handled option has already been used.

  2. In the Change Summary panel, in a tile for which an operation has been released, select the Revise when setting impact as handled check box, and then click Set Impact as Handled.
Note If you click Set Impact as Handled without selecting Revise when setting impact as handled, the impact state is set as handled but the operation is not revised. If you perform this action accidentally and decide that you want to also apply a revision, click Restore to reset the impact state to "not handled," and then repeat this step.

  3. Review the resulting notification, and if you approve, click Revise.
