Manually set the assignment state for review and approval

When you resolve part assignments, you can set a state for the assignment allowing it to go through a manual review and approval process.

Note

This feature is only supported for enterprise BOP (EBOP) structures.

Procedure

1. Ensure that the MEAssignmentStateEnable preference is set to true.

2. Add the Assignment State column to the Assignments view.

3. Resolve a part assignment as you normally would.

Teamcenter resolves the assignment with the applicable part and displays the word Pending in the Assignment State column. The state assigned after resolving is specified in the MEAssignmentStateInitial preference.

Note that the state is also displayed in the structure view.

If the line being resolved is a packed line, all the lines in the packed line receive the same state. If you change the state in one of the unpacked lines, you cannot repack the lines unless you change the state in all the other lines of the pack to the same assignment state. When Teamcenter resolves assignments, by default, if a part is configured out and you re-resolve the same structure, the part is removed. Additionally, if the process contains consumed parts from one structure and you resolve using another structure, the consumed parts from the first structure are removed. Your administrator can change this default behavior using the MERetainResolvedParts preference. If the value of this preference is set to true, the resolution of a logical assignment definition always adds new parts. It does not remove any existing consumed parts regardless of the configuration of the loaded structure. This means that a process structure can contained consumed parts from multiple products. Manually dragging the part to resolve it does not assign a state. Additionally, if you directly consume a part in a process or operation within an EBOP structure, Teamcenter does not assign it a state.

4. After a manual review of the assignment, change the state by right-clicking the assigned part in the Assignments view or in the structure view and choosing Change Assignment State and the appropriate state. You can choose from:

[No State] (displayed as an empty cell in the Assignment State column)

Pending

Accepted

Rejected

To be Removed

Note that the manually changed state is not reflected in the structure view.

5. Allocate the process or operation from the product BOP to the plant BOP.

Teamcenter carries over the assignment state from the source structure to the target structure. You can change the state on either of these structures independently. By default, Teamcenter carries over all the parts that are consumed in the process or operation and that have a Pending state. Your administrator can modify this behavior in the MEAssignmentStatesForTarget preference. For example, if the preference is set to Pending and Accepted, a consumed part in the product BOP that has been rejected (Assigned State=Rejected) is not carried over to the plant BOP.

6. (Optional) Run an accountability check between the product BOP and the plant BOP to ascertain differences in the assignment state. Since the assignment state is saved as a BOM line property, you can view any differences in the states in the Partial Match Details pane. You can then propagate the status from the source structure to the target structure.

If, after initial resolution, the usage address is changed on an assigned part, when you resolve the consuming logical assignments again, Teamcenter displays an error message in a log file and, if the MEAssignmentStateEnable preference is set to true, sets the assignment state to To be Removed. You must then remove this part manually.
